Glimmer Man (Original title: The Glimmer Man ) is a thriller directed by John Gray from 1996 with Steven Seagal in the lead role.

action

Jack Cole carried out secret missions for the government in the past as "Glimmer Man". Now he works for the LAPD and investigates a series of murders in which married couples are killed in pairs. The killer is known as the "Family Man". Detective Jim Campbell helps Cole with the investigation. The cooperation is proving difficult.

The victims later include Ellen Dunleavy, to whom Cole was married, and her future husband. Cole concludes that these murders were not committed by the Family Man, but by a copycat perpetrator and that the murders also have something to do with his past. Because of this, he begins to focus his investigation on his past and comes across a dangerous conspiracy.

Reviews

James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews : the film is a typical film with Steven Seagal and seems uninspired to all viewers who are not fans of Seagal. Keenen Ivory Wayans received praise.

Prisma-online wrote: “John Gray's action thriller with buddy movie elements à la“ Just 48 Hours ”looks like a cheap edition of David Fincher's“ Seven ”, but is quite amusing: When Seagal is not beating up villains, he gives lectures Buddhism and Nonviolence. Keenen Ivory Wayans can be seen in the role of the black cop Campbell, who has meanwhile also made a name for himself as a director (" Scary Movie "). "

The lexicon of international films judged: “A sloppy staged action thriller, especially poorly played by the main actor. No more than a humorous imitation of the thriller " Seven ". "

backgrounds

The thriller was shot in Los Angeles . It grossed $ 20.4 million in US cinemas. In Germany there were 224,000 moviegoers.
