Gondsroth is one of the three districts of the municipality of Hasselroth in the Main-Kinzig district in Hesse .

The place is on the edge of the Hessian Spessart in the Büdinger Meerholz hill country on the Hasselbach .

Landesstraße 3339 runs through the village. From 1904 to 1963 the village had a stop on the Freigerichter Kleinbahn .

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1151. In 1234 a chapel with a fortified tower was built in Gondsroth. From the 16th to the 19th century, linen weaving was practiced in the village . In 1870 a cigar factory was added as a source of income in the center of the village.

The place used to belong to the district of Gelnhausen and in 1939 had a total of 471 inhabitants.

On October 1, 1971, Gondsroth was merged with the neighboring community of Neuenhaßlau to form the new community of Hasselroth.

The village is a clearing settlement . The clearing was probably carried out by a settler named Gons . The place name changed several times:
