history
Görtelsdorf was first mentioned in 1292 as "Gurtilerisdorf" in the deed of foundation of the Grüssau monastery . It was one of the 14 villages which, together with the town of Liebau, were transferred by Duke Bolko I to the monastery with all taxes, rights and duties and which formed the basis of the Stiftsland. Together with the Duchy of Schweidnitz-Jauer it came to the Crown of Bohemia in 1392 . After the First Silesian War , it fell to Prussia together with Silesia in 1742 . In 1810 the monastery property was secularized . After the reorganization of Prussia in 1815, it belonged to the province of Silesia and from 1816 was incorporated into the Landeshut district, with which it remained connected until 1945. It formed its own rural community , which had belonged to the Kleinhennersdorf district since 1874 . In 1939 there were 434 residents in Görtelsdorf.
As a result of the Second World War , Görtelsdorf fell to Poland in 1945, like almost all of Silesia, and was renamed Gorzeszów . The German population was expelled. Some of the new residents were displaced from eastern Poland . 1975-1998 Gorzeszów belonged to the Jelenia Góra Voivodeship .
