Gottfried was a son of the Prussian lieutenant colonel Georg Ferdinand von Boenigk (1755-1832) and his wife Johanna Wilhelmine, née Bandt († 1835), daughter of the preacher von Nauen.

Life

Boenigk visited the cadet houses in Potsdam and Berlin . On May 31, 1813, he was employed as a porter officer in the 1st Reserve Battalion of the Colberg Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army and at the end of December 1813 he was transferred to the 9th Reserve Infantry Regiment as a second lieutenant . During the Wars of Liberation he was at the sieges of Wittenberg, Stettin, Soissons , Philippeville, Givet and Montmedy. Boenigk fought at Dennewitz , Leipzig , Laon , Antwerp and in the storming of Arnhem and Medy-Bas.

After the war, he was promoted to captain and company commander by the end of August 1831 . He came on March 30, 1837 in the 26th Infantry Regiment , his patent was also backdated to 10 March 1830th Boenigk rose to major on March 28, 1841 and came as commander of the 2nd Battalion in the 27th Landwehr Infantry Regiment. On March 27, 1847 he was appointed battalion commander in the 32nd Infantry Regiment , where he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on November 19, 1849. Shortly thereafter, on November 22, 1849, he was transferred to the 4th Infantry Regiment . From there he came on October 24, 1850 as commander of the 28th Infantry Regiment and became a colonel on April 19, 1851 . He received his on April 2, 1855 farewell with regimental uniform and board, also Boenigk received on 29 December 1855 the character as a major general. He was still on 5 January 1858, his pension for disposition made before he died in Halle (Saale) on 14 June 1860th

Boenigk married Sophie Juliane Ernestine von Kamptz (1804–1882), daughter of General August Ernst von Kamptz , on September 18, 1836 in Kolberg . The couple had a daughter Johanna (born October 12, 1841). On October 15, 1868, she married Colonel Friedrich Wilhelm August Eduard Theodor Nicolai
