Gottlieb Peter Lehmann (born April 10, 1762 in Berlin ; † July 13, 1824 in Münster ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

His parents were the major in the field artillery corps Johann Gottlieb Lehmann (* June 4, 1727 - October 18, 1793) and his wife Christine Erdmute, née Bauer (* 1740).

Military career

Lehmann came to the Joachimsthaler Gymnasium in Berlin on September 27, 1779 . He then followed his father and joined the 2nd Artillery Regiment on January 4, 1778 as a bombardier. There he became a non-commissioned officer on March 1, 1778 and took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . In 1780 he was appointed fireworker and on May 8, 1782 he was promoted to second lieutenant . During the First Coalition War , Lehmann took part in the siege of Mainz in 1793 and fought in the battles near Bingen am Rhein , Guntersheim and Herzogshand. For his work at Bingen he received the order Pour le Mérite on April 2, 1793 . On October 13, 1797, Lehmann came to the mounted artillery battalion as a prime lieutenant and rose to staff captain on October 14, 1800 . In the fourth coalition war he fought in the battle of Jena .

After the war he joined the Silesian Artillery Brigade on February 26, 1809 as captain and company commander . There he was promoted to major on October 12, 1812, and on March 10, 1813, he was transferred to the mobile artillery in Silesia. During the Wars of Liberation Lehmann fought near Großgörschen , Bautzen , Kulm , Dresden , Leipzig , Laon , Paris , Ligny , Belle Alliance, as well as the battle near Hanau and the siege of Avesnes. During that time he received the Iron Cross 2nd class on May 19, 1813 and the Iron Cross 1st class for Haynau on June 27, 1813. On May 22, 1814 he was appointed commander of the artillery of the II Army Corps.

On March 17, 1815 he received the Order of St. Vladimir IV. Class before he was transferred to the 1st Army Corps on April 21, 1815 as commander of the artillery. On March 16, 1816, he was transferred to the 6th Artillery Brigade (Magdeburgische) as commander. In addition, Lehmann received the Order of the Red Eagle III on June 18, 1816 . Class and on December 10, 1816 the Order of St. Anne II. Class. On December 18, 1823 he was promoted to major general; in addition he received 1000 thalers waiting allowance and retired from the army. He died on July 13, 1824 in Münster.

In 1795 Lehmann married Marie Luise, the daughter of the chief forester Bauer, in Kesselstadt . The couple had several children:
