Gourmandises ( dt. "Delicacies") is the debut studio album of French pop - singer Alizée . It was released in France on November 28, 2000. For over 1 million copies sold in Europe, the album was awarded the IFPI Platinum Europe Award by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry .

After Alizée's appearance on the French talent show Graines de Star of the television channel M6 , where she met the music producer Laurent Boutonnat and the singer Mylène Farmer , she was invited by both to make test recordings. At that time, Farmer was looking for a young singer for the song Moi ... Lolita, which she had written . Alizée convinced during these test recordings, so Farmer decided to release this song as a single with Alizée as the singer. The recordings for this took place in mid-2000. When the success of Moi… Lolita was in sight, a full studio album with Alizée was recorded in mid-2000 and released in France on November 28, 2000.

Genre Technically, the songs are Gourmandises the French Pop classify, but also influences include electronic music .

Reviews

Gourmandises was received positively by the critics. For Michael Frömmer from Laut.de "Gourmandises convinces with a very varied mixture of beautifully arranged rock and pop sounds". In conclusion, he describes the album as “a nicely arranged pop album that is enhanced by the pleasant voice of 17-year-old Alizée and breathes a little bit of France through the loudspeakers”.

Moi ... Lolita

Moi ... Lolita ( Eng .: "I ... Lolita") was Alizée's debut single and at the same time her commercial breakthrough. At the time of the single's release, Alizée was 15 years old. In terms of content, the song describes a seductive Lolita , based on the novel ofthe same name by Vladimir Nabokov . While the song was released in France in 2000, it wasn't released in the rest of Europe until a year later. Moi ... Lolita entered the French singles chart at number 9 and was in the top 10 for 31 weeks. With second place, the song only just missed the top position. In the German single charts , the song reached number 5 as the highest position and stayed in the top 10 for a total of nine weeks. Moi… Lolita hit the chartsin many other European countries,and number one in Italy and Spain .

L'Alizé

L'Alizé ( Eng .: " The trade wind ") was released as the second single on the album and reached number 1 in the French single charts at the end of 2000 . In the rest of Europe, however, the single was not quite as successful as Moi… Lolita and only reached the top 10 in the Belgian charts (Wallonia).

Parler tout bas ( dt : "quietly speak") was the third single from Gourmandises and was released in April 2001 in France. It was not published outside France and Belgium.

Gourmandises

The single Gourmandises ( Eng .: "Delicacies") was released in France, Belgium and Switzerland as the fourth and last song from the album of the same name. Commercially, Alizée was able to keep up with previous releases with this song, at least in France, the song reached the top 20 of the French single charts and was also awarded a gold record in France .

Commercial win

Gourmandises was particularly commercially successful in France. After the album entered the French album charts at number 10 on December 2, 2000, it was able to rise week after week until it reached number one on these charts in the tenth week of the chart. This position could be held for a week, the album spent a total of 84 weeks in the French charts. In total, Gourmandises were sold 889,700 times in France. In Germany and Switzerland the album reached the top 30, in Austria it reached the top place 40. In the Belgian album charts (Wallonia) Gourmandises also reached a top 10 position.

Gourmandises has received the IFPI Platinum Europe Award from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry . This award is given for sales of over 1 million copies in Europe. Other sources assume a total sales figure of over 4 million. RFI Musique assumes that Mylène Farmer earned a total of 10.4 million euros as producer, songwriter and composer on this album and its singles.
