as-Suwaida or Suweida ( Arabic السويداء, DMG as-Suwaidāʾ ) is one of the 14 Syrian governorates . It has an area of ​​5550 km² and is located in the southwest of the country on the border with Jordan . The capital is as-Suwaida .

The population is about 304,000 people (as of 2002). The inhabitants are composed of Druze and Greek Orthodox Christians . The Sunni Muslims are a minority.

Important cities are the main towns of the same name in the districts and Qanawat, Schaqqa , al-Kafer and al-Quraiya.
