Graeme Holmes (born March 26, 1984 in Motherwell ) is a Scottish football player who acts on the position of central midfielder .
Career
Graeme Holmes began his career in Dundee United's youth , where he played until 2003. In July 2003 he was finally called up for the 2003/04 season of the Scottish first division in the first team of Dundee, where he played only three games in his first season. In 2004 Graeme was loaned to FC Dumbarton in the third division . There he completed twelve league games, where he finally scored his first professional goal. In 2005 he moved to Airdrie United in the second division , where he completed a total of 35 games in which he scored a goal. In 2008 he moved to Dunfermline Athletic for two years before moving to Greenock Morton for one year in the second division in 2011 . Holmes has been with Alloa Athletic since 2011 , for which he made his debut on July 30, 2011. With the team he managed in his first season promotion from the fourth to the third division. The team did not manage to repeat this success in the next season in the third division, but stayed in second place with a clear gap on the newly promoted Queen of the South . With a 3-1 in the relegation against the second division Dunfermline Athletic, however, the promotion to division two succeeded. In the following season , the relegation could be avoided with the third from last place in the table. A season later , Holmes had to relegate to relegation with Alloa Athletic as penultimate, but was able to hold on to the second division with a 4: 3 against Forfar Athletic . In the 2015/16 season , however, the direct relegation took place as bottom of the table, which Alloa plays again in the third division in the 2016/17 season .
Graeme Holmes has played a total of 131 games for Alloa Athletic since 2011 , scoring 13 goals. His current contract runs until June 2017. In April 2016, he said he hoped his contract would be extended in order to continue playing for the club and to hit the 200-game mark.
