Grandview is a city ( City ) in Yakima County in the State of Washington . It is located about 62 km west of Kennewick and 62 km southeast of Yakima . As of the 2010 United States Census , Grandview had 10,862 residents. Grandview's economy rests on agriculture; the main crops are apples, cherries, wine (especially Concord ), hops, asparagus, corn and wheat. In addition, other fruits and vegetables are grown and milk production is operated. Processing companies and freezer stores complement this.
history
Grandview got its name in 1906 because of its views of Mount Rainier and Mount Adams . The city was officially recognized on September 21, 1909. It started as a simple stop halfway between Prosser and Sunnyside .

2010 Census
As of the 2010 census , there were 10,862 residents, 2,996 households, and 2,459 families in Grandview. The population density was 673.2 per km ². There were 3,136 housing units at a mean density of 194.4 per km².
The population consisted of 55.2% white , 0.9% African American , 0.6% Indian , 0.5% Asian , 0.1% Pacific islander , 38.8% from other "races" and 4% from two or more "races" . Hispanics or Latinos of "any race" made up 79.7% of the population.
Of the 2996 households, 57.1% had children under the age of 18, 54.5% were run by married couples living together , 18.5% by single mothers and 9% by single fathers; 17.9% were non-families. 14.2% of the households were singles and 5.6% were single people over 65 years of age. The average household size was 3.6 and the average family size 3.9 people.
The median age in the city was 26.3 years. 37% of the population were under 18, 11.2% between 18 and 24, 26.8% between 25 and 44, 17.1% between 45 and 64 and 7.9 65 years or older. 50% of the population were men and 50% women.
Census 2000
As of the 2000 census , Grandview had 8,377 residents, 2,431 households, and 1,956 families. The population density was 599 per km². There were 2,581 housing units at an average density of 184.5 per km².
The population was 51.12% White , 0.58% African American , 0.94% Native American , 0.94% Asian , 0.11% Pacific Islander , 43.27% from other "races" and 3.03% from two or more "races" . Hispanics or Latinos of "any race" made up 68.04% of the population.
Of the 2,431 households, 49.9% had children under the age of 18, 60% were run by married couples living together and 14.6% by single mothers; 19.5% were non-families. 16.6% of the households were singles and 7.8% were single people over 65 years of age. The average household size was 3.4 and the average family size was 3.8.
The median age in the city was 27 years. 36.2% of the population were under 18, 11.3% between 18 and 24, 27% between 25 and 44, 16.1% between 45 and 64 and 9.4 65 years or older. There were 98.5 men for every 100 women, and 96.6 men for every 100 women over the age of 18.
All information on median income relates to the median. The median household income was US $ 32,588 and that of families was US $ 36,165. Men had a median income of US $ 29,321 compared to US $ 21,959 for women. The per capita income was US $ 12,489. About 16% of families and 20.3% of the total population lived below the poverty line ; this affected 26% of those under 18 and 17.6% of those over 65.
