Gregory John Hartmayer OFMConv (born November 21, 1951 in Buffalo ) is an American religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Atlanta .

Life

Gregory John Hartmayer joined the Order of the Minorites on August 15, 1970 and made solemn profession on August 15, 1973 . He was ordained priestly on May 5, 1979 by the Bishop of Albany , Howard James Hubbard .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Savannah on July 19, 2011 . The Archbishop of Atlanta, Wilton Daniel Gregory , donated him episcopal ordination on October 18 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were his predecessor as Bishop of Savannah, John Kevin Boland , and Luis Rafael Zarama Pasqualetto , auxiliary bishop in Atlanta. As a motto he chose Pax et bonum .

On April 22, 2012 it was invested in the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem by the Grand Prior of the USA-Southeastern Lieutenancy, Archbishop of New Orleans , Gregory Aymond .

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Atlanta on March 5, 2020. The inauguration took place on May 6th of the same year.
