The Greutbach is a creek less than two kilometers long in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in northeastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the lower Bühler from the left and west-southwest opposite the hamlet of Unterscheffach in the Wolpertshausen community . On some maps the creek is labeled Kreutbach .

geography

course

The Greutbach arises about 700 meters north-northwest of the center of the hamlet of Otterbach, which belongs to the Schwäbisch Hall district of Tüngental, between the Krumme Äcker and Kräuser fields . There, near a fork in the field, begins at about 406  m above sea level. NHN is a ditch that initially runs about 600 meters to the east.

Then it crosses under the district road K 2568 from Otterbach to Unterscheffach and bends in the small Klingenwiese on a steady north-east course. Passing a sinkhole shaded by a solitary oak tree, after about 150 meters it comes to about 390  m above sea level. NHN in one of the typical local small wooded and deeply carved limestone - Blades one in which the county road on the left hand follows him on the largest part section on a slope.

After about 0.7 km of the gorge, the stream emerges from the slope forest on the left edge of the Bühlertal valley at the edge of the floodplain between the Sporngewannen Hörlebach on the left and Neuer Rain on the right. The road, which had recently moved away from the stream for a serpentine stroke, reaches and crosses the course and is then accompanied by the course of the watercourse, which is now shallow. A little over 0.2 km further, the Greutbach flows into the road bridge opposite the Wolpertshausener Talweiler Unterscheffach in the backwater area of the weir of the mill on this side of the river at 281.1  m above sea level. NHN in the lower Bühler .

The 1.7 km long stream flows about 125 meters below the mentioned origin, the mean bed slope is about 72 ‰. It often dries out over long distances in summer.

Catchment area

The Greutbach drains a catchment area of around 1.2 km², the highest point of which is on the northwest corner at over 417  m above sea level. NHN is close to Wolpertsdorf . It borders in turn

  • in the north briefly to the catchment area of a small brook that runs through the Pfaffenklinge further down to the Bühler in this hamlet
  • on the southwest side to that of the Rotbach ,
  • on the south side at its receiving water Otterbach .

Only insignificant slope channels run towards the Bühler from the edge of the slope of the Bühlertal in the northeast.

Geologic the plateau is of the shell constructed on the slope up to the bend of the Bühlertals reduced still Lettenkeuper layer is ( Erfurt lineup ), on the highest parts above another layer in the quaternary deposited Lösssediments . In the blade then follow Upper and Middle Muschelkalk , into which the Greutbach flows.

The area belongs by its upper part to the partial space Haller level of the natural space Hohenloh and Haller plane , with its lower part space Medium Kocher and lower Bühlertal the natural environment Kocher-Jagst levels . The natural area boundary roughly follows the political boundary between the Schwäbisch Hall district marking Tüngental on the plateau and the municipality of Wolpertshausen from the line of the upper bend in the Bühlertal valley. On the open plateau, with the exception of a small gusset of the forest island Hagenbusch on the southeast corner, there are almost only fields, in the Greutbach-Klinge and on the edge of the Bühlertal there is hillside forest. The catchment area is uninhabited.

Origin of the Greutbach at about 406  m above sea level. NHN north-northwest of the hamlet of Otterbach between the Krumme Äcker and Kräuser fields .

  • (Inconsistent water-bearing ditch), from the right and southeast to about 390  m above sea level. NHN at the blade entrance, approx. 0.4 km and approx. 0.3 km². Arises at about 405  m above sea level. NHN in a field between the Eichwald and Am Mühlweg tubs .
  • (Unstable water-bearing ditch), from the left and northwest immediately after the previous one, approx. 0.5 km and approx. 0.2 km². Arises below 400  m above sea level. NHN in the field Greut between two fields.

Mouth of the Greutbach from the left and finally southwest to 281.1  m above sea level. NHN across from Wolpertshausen - Unterscheffach between its mill and its mill on this side in the lower Bühler . The stream is 1.7 km long and has a catchment area of about 1.2 km².

Nature and protected areas

The sinkhole under the oak tree on the Klingenwiese is a little over ten meters wide and about three meters deep. In the blade that follows immediately, the brook flows in places under rock faces over small falls on outcropping limestone banks, elsewhere there are only isolated rocks or block protection on the slope, which often covers the ground next to fallen wood. The mixed deciduous forest is made up of a lot of maple and ash in the highest section; in many places the fern spreads its fronds during the vegetation period. At the edge of the Bühlertal floodplain, the stream ditch that runs straight next to the district road passes a small former quarry on the opposite side, overgrown with trees and shrubbery.

At the blade area of the stream comes into the conservation area Bühlertal between Vellberg and Geislingen with side valleys and neighboring areas one, are excluded from the blade-and downhill only the settlement areas of sub-chief specialist and finally the narrow at the mouth, where only the tree gallery of the river comprehensive nature reserve Lower Bühlertal .
