The Grigorovich DI-3 ( Russian Григорович ДИ-3 ) is a two-seat, single-engine biplane - fighter of Soviet origin.

development

The machine was made in mixed construction. The frame was welded from steel tubing covered with wood . The landing gear was not retractable. In order to offer the rear gunner a free field of fire, a double tail unit was used.

As a fixed forward facing arming were above the motor two PW-1 - machine guns mounted passing through the propeller circle fired. The observer operated a DA machine gun mounted on a hand-operated mount with a field of fire to the rear.

Flight tests began in August 1931. Although the speed was sufficient, the machine turned out to be too heavy and difficult to maneuver, so that no series production was possible. Tests with skis were made in winter. But this did not change anything in the decision.

The armament was then expanded and the aircraft was used as a travel machine.
