Grimlinghausen (incorrectly often Grimmlinghausen) is a district of the municipality of Bestwig , North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. On June 30, 2012, Grimlinghausen had 31 residents. The name means To the houses of the Grimlings, a settlement whose original inhabitants were under the leadership of a Grimo . The Bredelar monastery was given a farm as an allod of the Padberg family in 1170 .

In the Second World War , two people from Grimlinghausen died as soldiers and one died in Grimlinghausen as a result of a war wound.

On April 6, 1945, the US Army occupied the hamlet without a fight after two days of shelling. The US troops combed the neighboring forests for hidden German soldiers and withdrew after six days. In the next three months the hamlet was plundered several times by former foreign prisoners from Nuttlar. The residents ended up hiding in the neighboring woods every night.

On January 1, 1975, the main part of Grimlinghausen, which until then belonged to the Bigge office , was incorporated into the new municipality of Bestwig.

In 1993 the so-called Lourdes Grotto , a natural stone chapel with a Stations of the Cross, was built in the village in honor of the Mother of God .
