The Great Leuchtberg is 318.7 m above sea level. NHN high mountain near Eschwege in the north Hessian Werra-Meißner district .
Geographical location
The Große Leuchtberg is located about 1.7 km east of the old town of Eschweg, Niederdünzebach to the southeast and Schwebda to the northeast . Together with the Kleiner Leuchtberg ( ⊙ ), located around 570 m to the south and 288.6 m high , it represents a striking singularity in the Eschweg Basin , part of the Lower Werrabergland . Both peaks are separated by the Leuchtbergsattel at an altitude of 211 m . West flows past the Cyriakus Bach and east of the Dünzebach , each according to affect the large luminous Bergs in the mountain at the northern foot in east-west direction passing Werra open; across the river is the Werratalsee . Immediately below the mountain is the Spangenberg fountain . The luminous mountains are mostly overgrown with deciduous forest.
Bismarck Tower
On the Great Leuchtberg is surrounded by probably the 10th century n. Chr. Incurred ring walls , the built in 1903, 26 m high Eschweger Bismarck Tower , an observation tower, from which the view among others in the Eschweger pool and adjacent altitudes is possible.
Transport links and tourism
Until on the light anticline located Wanderparkplatz a released for the public thoroughfare, the side roads leading country road 3244 (Eschwege- Niederdünzebach can be reached). The area is accessible with circular hiking trails. The Werratal cycle path leads past north . The Schäferhalle cultural monument is located on the northwest slope and there is a climbing park at the foot of the mountain.
