Niederdünzebach is a district of Eschwege in the Werra-Meißner district in northern Hesse .

Geographical location

Niederdünzebach is located three kilometers southeast of Eschwege in northern Hesse . State road 3244 runs through the village .

history

The "Thuncenbach" mentioned in a document in 1263 is probably Niederdünzebach. In 1392 a churchyard was named. When the lords of Boyneburg -Hohenstein were enfeoffed with Niederdünzebach and churchyard in 1444 and 1471, the place was called a desert in the documents . Since the church belonging to the parish of Oberdünzebach was built in 1516, the place must have been populated again during this time. Church patrons were the Lords of Boyneburg. In a contract of 1602 the Lords of Boyneburg were left with the lower court, while the Landgraviate of Hesse had the embarrassing jurisdiction.

Originally belonging to the Eschwege office , the aristocratic place came to the landgrave office of Bischhausen in 1654 . Niederdünzebach has belonged to the Eschwege district since 1821 . In 1939 the place had 433 inhabitants. Even then, Niederdünzebach was part of the Eschwege local court and tax office.

On December 31, 1971, the previously independent place was incorporated into the district town of Eschwege.
