The Große Ricklinger Teich (also called Ricklinger Teich or Großer Teich) is a quarry pond in the district of Ricklingen in the southern urban area of Hanover , Lower Saxony .

description

The 20.5 hectare lake belongs to the group of Ricklinger Kiesteiche in the floodplain of the Leine . It is the most famous of the Ricklinger ponds, as it is bridged by the busy Südschnellweg ( federal highway 6 ). The lake is divided into a north and a south part by an interrupted dam. The northern part lies between Ricklingen in the west and the Leine in the east. The southern part is cut halfway up by the Südschnellweg bridge. North of the bridge is the Dreiecksteich in the east , south of the bridge the Große Döhrener Teich . To the south of the lake is the Great Hemminger Pond , with which the Great Ricklinger Pond is connected by the Seniebach . The Ihme flows to the west between the Great Ricklinger Teich and Ricklingen, with the Aegir Bad Ricklingen open-air swimming pool immediately behind it .

Approved bathing areas are located on the east side of the lake north of the bridge, and the bathing water quality is also monitored. There are sanitary facilities on site, but there is no lifeguard on duty. Swimming is not permitted south of the bridge. The water depth is mostly 4 m, below the bridge 2-3 m, in the northern section the water depth reaches 6 m in places.

The lake is used by the Hanover fishing association as angling waters. In 2009, eel , perch , pike , carp , roach , tench , catfish and pikeperch were reported from the lake .
