Grunau is a district of the city of Roßwein in the district of Central Saxony in the Free State of Saxony . He was incorporated into Niederstriegis on June 1, 1973 , with whom he came to the city of Roßwein on July 1, 2013. With other districts, Grunau today forms the village of Niederstriegis. The place bears the community key 140.

Grunau is west of the old town of Roßwein on the Striegis . The route of the Roßwein – Niederwiesa railway , where Grunau has had a train station since it opened in 1874 , runs through the village . This went out of service in 1998 with the cessation of passenger traffic on the Roßwein - Hainichen section . The federal highway 169 can be reached in a westerly direction via the neighboring town of Littdorf .

history

The Waldhufendorf Grunau was mentioned in 1185 as "usque in cumulum Gronowa". Until the Reformation in 1540, the place belonged to the manor of the Altzella monastery . With due to the reformation secularization of the convent Altzella Grunau since belonged to 1856 to the office Village to Saxon or Royal Saxon Official Nossen . Ecclesiastically, the place has always been parish to Niederstriegis . From 1856 Grunau belonged to the Roßwein court office and from 1875 to the Döbeln administration , which was renamed the Döbeln district in 1939.

With the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the community of Grunau was initially incorporated into the district of Hainichen in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ). On December 4, 1952, it was reclassified to the Döbeln district in the Leipzig district . On June 1, 1973, Grunau was incorporated into Niederstriegis. As a district of Niederstriegis, Grunau has belonged to the Saxon district of Döbeln since 1990 , which was added to the district of central Saxony in 2008. With the incorporation of Niederstriegis, Grunau came to the city of Roßwein on January 1, 2013. Since then it has belonged to the village of Niederstriegis.
