Guanidinium carbonate is a chemical compound from the group of guanidinium salts .
Extraction and presentation
Guanidinium carbonate can be obtained by reacting guanidine thiocyanate with potassium carbonate or by reacting nitroguanidine with ammonium carbonate .
properties
Guanidinium carbonate is a flammable, difficult to ignite, moisture-sensitive, crystalline, white, odorless solid that is easily soluble in water. Its aqueous solution has a strongly alkaline reaction.
It has a tetragonal crystal structure with the space group P 4 1 2 1 2 (space group no. 92) .
use
Guanidinium carbonate is used as a strong organic base and organic intermediate in soaps and cosmetic products as well as in the textile industry. It is also used in the manufacture of fine chemicals and in shampoos . It is used in different industries to serve different purposes such as: B. in cosmetics as a hair relaxant that smoothes the hair by chemically uncrimping it, in detergents as a synergistic agent and for microencapsulation processes for carbonless paper.
