Gudrun Grieser

Gudrun Grieser (born March 5, 1947 in Würzburg ) is a German teacher and politician ( CSU ). From 1992 to 2010 she was mayor of the independent city of Schweinfurt .

Education, work and family

From 1967 to 1972, Grieser studied English and history at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg and graduated with the state examination. As a high school teacher , she worked at the Olympia-Morata-Gymnasium in Schweinfurt from 1973 to 1992 , most recently as a senior teacher . She has been married since 1972, has a son (* 1976) and lives in Schweinfurt.

Political career

Gudrun Grieser has been actively involved in Bavarian local politics since 1990 and has been a member of the CSU since October 1990. In December of the same year she moved to the city ​​council of Schweinfurt in place of Hans Gerhard Stockinger .

In March 1992 she was elected Lord Mayor of the city of Schweinfurt. She was confirmed in office in 1998 (56.5%) and 2004 (68.89%). In October 2009 it was announced that Grieser will not run again in the OB election on March 7, 2010. Her successor has been Sebastian Remelé since May 1st, 2010 .

On February 18, 2011, Gudrun Grieser and her predecessor Kurt Petzold were made an honorary citizen of the city of Schweinfurt.
