Guidantonio da Montefeltro (* 1378 ; † February 21, 1443 ) was after the death of his father Antonio II. Da Montefeltro in 1404 "Signore d'Urbino". He belonged to the Da Montefeltro family .

Life

Pope Boniface IX appointed him three weeks after his father's death . against the payment of 12,000 guilders to the papal vicar. He fought as a condottiere for various Italian states. In 1409 he was Gran Connestabile of the Kingdom of Naples , in 1412 he fought for the antipope John XXIII. and was by Pope Gregory XII. banned. He took the opportunity to conquer Assisi . Relations with the Pope improved when the Bishop of Urbino was elected Pope as Martin V in 1417 . He made Guidantonio gonfaloniere and Duke of Spoleto in 1419 . In January 1424 he became military leader for Venice and in 1430 for Florence . After his death in 1443 he was buried in the Church of San Donato in Urbino. His son Oddantonio followed him as lord of Urbino.

family

Guidantonio's first marriage to Rengarda Malatesta († 1423), daughter of Galeotto Roberto Malatesta , Lord of Rimini , remained childless.
He married on January 23, 1424 Caterina Colonna († 1438), daughter of Lorenzo Onofrio Colonna the brother of Pope Martin V. The marriage had four children.
