Gumna is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality Dębowiec in the powiat Cieszyński of the Silesian Voivodeship in Poland .
geography
Gumna is located in the Silesian Foothills ( Pogórze Śląskie ), about 28 km west of Bielsko-Biała and 60 km south of Katowice in the powiat (district) Cieszyn.
The village has an area of 410 ha (10% of the rural parish).
Neighboring towns are Kostkowice in the northeast, Ogrodzona in the east, the city of Cieszyn in the south, and Zamarski in the west.
history
The village is located in the Olsa area (also Teschener Silesia , Polish Śląsk Cieszyński ).
The place was first mentioned in 1523 as Humna . The name is the plural form of the word gumno , in German Tenne .
Politically, the village belonged to the Duchy of Teschen , the feudal lordship of the Kingdom of Bohemia , and from 1526 it belonged to the Habsburg Monarchy .
After the abolition of patrimonial it was from 1850 a municipality in Austrian Silesia , Teschen district and Teschen judicial district. Between 1880 and 1910 the village had around 320 inhabitants, the majority of whom were Polish-speaking (100% in 1880, 92.9% in 1910), and 7.1% German-speaking in 1910. In 1910 56.1% were Protestant, 41.3% Roman Catholic, there were eight (2.6%) Jews.
In 1920, after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the Polish-Czechoslovak border war , Gumna came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .
From 1975 to 1998 Gumna was part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship .
