Gustav Schacht

Gustav Schacht (* 1875 ; † November 14, 1922 ) was a German manager in the paper industry . As an author, Schacht dealt with the history of papermakers, especially in Central Germany .

Schacht was accepted into the German Book Trade Association in June 1907 . In his Leipzig publishing house from 1909 he published the manual encyclopedia for the paper industry and the book trade , written by 160 employees .

On January 15, 1909, the manhole from Altdamm became director of Rathsdamnitzer Papierfabrik AG . After increases in wage costs and material prices, the company was unable to generate a profit for a long time despite increased production, so that it had to file for bankruptcy in 1912 . A fire that broke out in several places - arson was suspected due to the circumstances - caused damage, so that the purchase price paid by Varziner Papierfabrik AG was ultimately below the cost of the paper machine purchased in 1905. In 1911, Schacht published an article on the history of the Rathsdamnitzer paper factory in the weekly paper for paper production, which also appeared as a special edition.

Schacht later became director of the Kröllwitzer Aktien- Papierfabrik in Halle (Saale) . This went back to an older paper mill, which was initially leased from 1718 to 1878 and later owned by the Central German Keferstein family of paper makers (including Albrecht Ludwig Keferstein ). In October 1915 he reported on a postcard from Champagne to the newspaper publisher Carl Hofmann about his promotion to lieutenant in the Landwehr (with the 11th Heavy Reserve Provision Column, 7th Reserve Division , West).

Gustav Schacht, who died in November 1922 at the age of 47 from a "treacherous ailment", was until then also a member of the Association of Pulp and Paper Chemists and Engineers, whose interests Schacht "always warmly represented".
