Gustav von Arnim (Lieutenant General)

Friedrich Karl Paul Gustav von Arnim (born June 18, 1856 in Potsdam , † October 6, 1932 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general in the First World War .

Life

He came from the aristocratic von Arnim family and was the son of the later Prussian infantry general Gustav von Arnim and his wife Henriette Friederike Pauline Elisa, née Gumtau (1830–1914).

After visiting the Ritterakademie Brandenburg Arnim studied from 1875 at the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg , the Kaiser-Wilhelm University of Strasbourg and the Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Berlin law . In 1876 he became a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg . After graduating as Dr. jur. and the legal traineeship he embarked on an officer career in the Prussian army . In 1907, he was a colonel to the commander of the "I. King William" Hussars. 7 appointed in Bonn. In the year of his departure as regimental commander, his cartel corps Borussia Bonn awarded him the corps loop. He was promoted to major general on March 22, 1912 and appointed commander of the 28th Cavalry Brigade stationed in Karlsruhe . Later he was promoted to lieutenant general. During the First World War and beyond, he commanded a. a. from August 1, 1918 to February 17, 1919 the 20th Landwehr Division .

After his departure, Arnim lived in Berlin-Charlottenburg. He was married to Wally von Plötz. They had a son.
