Gustavo Endres (born August 23, 1975 in Passo Fundo ) is a Brazilian volleyball player . He took part in three Olympic Games and became world champion twice . His younger brother Murilo Endres is also a national player in this sport.

Career

Endres began his career in 1996 in São Paulo at EC Banespa. The following year, the middle blocker made his debut for the Brazilian national team . In 2000 he took part with the team for the first time in the Olympic tournament , which ended in sixth place for Brazil. In 2001 he moved to the Italian league to Pallavolo Ferrara . In the same year he won the world league with the national team and received an individual award for best blocker. In 2002 Endres became world champion for the first time with a final victory by the Brazilians against Russia . In 2003 another title followed in the world league and his first triumph in the World Cup . Within the Italian league, he went to Icom Latina for one season . In 2004, after winning the world league again, he experienced his second Olympic tournament and won the gold medal with Brazil in the final against Italy . In the league, Endres was signed by Sisley Treviso . With his new club, he made the double of championship and cup victory in 2005. A year later, they won the Champions League by beating Iraklis Thessaloniki . With the national team there were further titles in the world league in 2005 and 2006 . At the World Cup in Japan , Brazil prevailed against Poland with Endres in the final . In 2007 Treviso repeated the double in the league with the Brazilian middle blocker. The national team won three titles in the World League , the Pan American Games and the World Cup . In 2008 Endres took part in the Olympic Games for the third time ; Brazil lost to the United States in the final and thus received the silver medal. In 2009, the middle blocker returned to the domestic league and played two years for EC Pinheiros . In 2011 he moved to Cimed Florianópolis and a year later to Canoas Vôlei.
