Gustavo Rodríguez Iglesias (born September 16, 1979 in Tui ) is a Spanish cyclist and triathlete . He is a two-time national champion in the long distance triathlon (2014, 2016) and is included in the best list of Spanish triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Cycling since 2005

Gustavo Rodríguez began his career in 2005 with the Portuguese Continental Team Barbot-Halcon . In his first year he won a stage at the Volta a Coruna and thereby also came second in the overall standings, having finished third overall there the previous year. At the Algarve Tour in 2006 he won the mountain classification and was fifth in the sprint classification. From 2007 to 2008 Rodríguez drove for Fercase-Rota dos Moveis , for which he won a stage in the Volta a Tras os Montes .

In 2010 Rodríguez started at the Vuelta a España and was 69th overall.

Triathlon since 2012

Gustavo Rodríguez has been active as a duathlon and triathlon since 2012. In April 2013 he became Duathlon Vice State Champion. In 2014 he became national champion in the long-distance triathlon and in October third at the European championship in the middle-distance triathlon. In the following year he was Vice State Champion.

In September 2016 he finished third in the long distance triathlon (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) at the Ironman Mallorca . In October 2016 he became national champion in the long distance triathlon for the second time.
