Guy Lapchin (born December 16, 1903 in Valenciennes , † November 5, 1991 ) was a French racing car driver and architect.

Career

After attending compulsory education and the necessary training Guy Lapchin was in the 1930s, architect and worked mainly in Paris . During the Second World War , construction activity in the French capital came to a complete standstill and remained weak for the time being even after the end of the war. Lapchin looked for a different professional environment and imported vehicles from the British manufacturer Riley to France.

In addition to his daily occupation, Lapchin was active as a driver in sports car racing for many years . In 1935 he competed for the first time in the Le Mans 24-hour race . Lapchin was Jacques Savoye's partner and finished the race with a Singer 9 Le Mans in 23rd place in the final standings. Jacques Savoye ran a trading company in Paris that sold Singer and Alvis vehicles in France. Savoye's relationship with the British automotive industry later helped Lapchin import the Rileys. Until the 1950s, Lapchin competed in Le Mans again and again. His best placement in the final ranking was ninth in 1938 .
