Jacques Savoye
Jacques Adrien Savoye (born November 12, 1905 , † March 17, 1998 ) was a French entrepreneur and racing car driver .
Singer and Morgan
Jacques Savoye was a sales representative for the British car brand Singer in France in the 1930s . Jacques Savoye Automobile in Paris also sold Alvis models in addition to Singer vehicles . Singer 9 Le Mans were converted in small numbers to Singer 9 Le Mans Replica Savoye Spezial . In 1954, Savoye became France's first Morgan importer. In 1995 his grandson Pierre-Henri Mahul took over the company.
Racing career
Jacques Savoye was active as a racing driver for several decades, mostly at the start of the Le Mans 24-hour race . He made his debut in 1935 together with Guy Lapchin on a Singer 9 Le Mans and finished 23rd in the final ranking. Before the Second World War , he only drove in Le Mans with Singer models that were prepared for racing in his workshop in Paris. In 1938 he was overall eighth and celebrated a class victory
After the Second World War, Savoye resumed racing in 1949 and competed in the 24-hour race until 1955 . He had his last races in 1969. At the age of 64 he drove a Morgan Plus 8 in the Tour de France for automobiles and was 17th overall.
