Gyeongbu Derby

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gyeongbu Derby ( 경부 더비 ) is a football derby between FC Seoul and Busan IPark FC . This derby took place for the first time in the relegation to K League 1 2019. This derby was created through the breakup of both fan camps.

history

prehistory

Both clubs have played regularly in the league and cup competitions against each other since 1984. At no time was there a rivalry with each other. Players kept switching to the corresponding other club, but there were never any protests from the fans. Busan IPark FC were relegated from the first division in 2015 as they lost the relegation games. The FC Seoul fans made several statements about the Busan fans.

background

At the end of 2018, Busan I Park FC was in second place in the second division and thus qualified for the play-off games, which they also won. At the same time, FC Seoul finished its regular playing time in 11th place, the relegation place. Both clubs met again after relegation to K League 1 in 2015. The fan camps of Incheon United , Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors , Suwon Samsung Bluewings and FC Anyang, who were hostile to FC Seoul, cheered the relegation and called on Busan IPark FC to support the relegation. Many fans of the respective clubs followed the call. In the first leg, the fan camps gathered in the Busan block to support Busan IPark FC. Busan IPark FC lost 3-1 at home in the first leg. After the game, the Busan Ultras thanked the other fan camps for their support and at the same time caused outrage at the FC Seoul fan camp when they called for " Bukpae (swearword for FC Seoul and its supporters) to be promoted to the second division in Seoul ". This statement ultimately led to the breakdown of both fan camps. The Busan supporters were also supported in the second leg by the hostile FC Seoul fan camp. The second leg ended with 1: 1, which is why FC Seoul was able to hold the class. The relationship between the two fan camps has since been considered to be clearly hostile.
