profile

Aviation sports and technology

The tradition of gliding at the Laucha air sports center goes back to the 1920s. In 1993, an ASK 21 glider was handed over to the school and a student flight association was set up which flies from Laucha airfield . Aerospace and model aircraft construction have been offered as elective subjects since 1996 and can be included in the Abitur as special learning achievements . In 1995 the "House of Air Sports Youth" of the German Aero Club moved from Hirzenhain in Hesse to Laucha and has been looking after the high school's gliding working groups since 1996.

Since 1996, the Laucha high school has been one of six model schools in the Schools on the Net project in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. In this context, the school took part in the DARA project for spectral analysis in physics, astronomy and computer science classes . In 1997 the nationwide Space Festival of the Space Youth Initiative (JIR) took place in the air sports center in Laucha , in 1998 a group of high school students took part in the French Space Festival in Bourges with a rocket launch .

In 2011 the grammar school was awarded the title "School against Racism - School with Courage".

Viticulture

Another focus is the cultivation of our own vineyard in the traditional wine-growing region of the Saale-Unstrut region . This vineyard at Edelacker in Freyburg was given to the school through a partnership agreement with the Gleina agricultural cooperative . The school looks after 233 Portuguese vines and 133 Gutedel vines and is a member of the Freyburg winegrowers' association with its own producer number. Viticulture can be taken as an elective course in grades 9 and 10 and as a project course in grade 11.
