The Raabeschule grammar school is a grammar school in Braunschweig and the oldest all-day grammar school in Lower Saxony .
history
In 1861, today's Raabeschule grammar school was founded by Hermann Günther as Günther's institute , which, thanks to its strong professional orientation and the individualization of learning paths and goals, took greater account of the educational and training interests of the Braunschweig citizens than the public schools of the time. After the death of the founder, the private institute became a state secondary school, which was renamed Raabeschule in 1926 and expanded into a nine-stage higher school with a high school diploma from 1938. After the school building on Kasernenstrasse, which was newly occupied in 1915, was destroyed in the Second World War , the Raabeschule found a place to stay at Franzschen Feld in 1949 after several temporary accommodations . In 1973 she moved to the new building in the Heidberg school center. With the dissolution of the orientation level in 2004, the Raabeschule received a branch for grades 5 to 7 at Siekgraben. In 1989 the Raabeschule was converted into an open all-day school. In 2015 the school had 793 students.
