background

After performing together for the band's 25th anniversary, Dan Reed Network performed in 2013 in Stockholm , Northern Ireland and at the Enchanted Festival near London. In 2014 a swarm-financed best of album entitled Anthology was released , and the group also appeared at the Download Festival in England and during a club tour in Germany before touring again in the UK and Sweden in 2015 .

Blake Sakamoto , the band's keyboardist, announced via Facebook on October 6, 2015 that he would be leaving the band with immediate effect in order to be able to meet his family obligations. Rob Daiker, who has worked with Dan Reed for a long time, was selected as his successor . On November 11, 2015, the group announced, also on Facebook, that they were working on a new album.

The recordings initially took place in the Falcon Recording Studios in Portland , the hometown of all group members. Here were the drums , bass and rhythm - guitars added, also were percussion -Contributions the guest musician Scott Wardinsky recorded. At the end of November 2015, the band moved to "The Commune" studio that Rob Daiker runs. In this studio the lead guitars and vocals were recorded . The keyboards , synthesizers and other vocal tracks were recorded in the Faust Records Studio in Prague from December 2015 .

On January 18, 2016, the band announced on their Facebook page that the album was nearing completion. The mix is "great," the artwork is almost finished and the title is fixed. Four days later, Frontiers Records officially announced the planned release of the album on the label. The press release also stated that Derek Shulman , who signed the band as A&R manager at Mercury Records in 1986 , would work as co-manager and A&R manager for the group.

On April 4th, Frontiers Records released a press release with a track listing and an illustration of the album cover, and announced that Fight Another Day would be released on June 3rd, 2016. On April 18, 2016, the title Divided was published online as the first song from the album . The songs Heaven and Sharp Turn originally come from Dan Reeds' solo EP , Sharp Turn, which was only released in the USA in 2004 and was distributed exclusively digitally. They have been rearranged for the album .

reception

Rocks wrote that the album was a "surprisingly strong and pop not averse record," there was "little to criticize about the ageless mixture of funk grooves, effective tight hard rock riffs and euphoric melodies". In Give It Love, the team “bursts” with youthful exuberance, The Brave draws a “direct line” to the band's first hit, Ritual, and Eye of the Storm leans “a good deal towards melodic rock.” The “gripping one Rock with heart and mind "still reaches the listener" without detours. "
