Héctor Tizón

Héctor Tizón (born October 21, 1929 in Yala , Jujuy Province , † July 30, 2012 in San Salvador de Jujuy ) was an Argentine lawyer , diplomat and writer .

Life

Tizón studied law at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata and was able to successfully complete this degree. He then returned to his hometown to work as a lawyer. After his first literary attempts during his studies, he teamed up with like-minded people in Yala and founded the literary magazine Tarja in 1956 .

When President Arturo Frondizi took over the government in 1958 , Tizón was sent to Mexico City as cultural attaché. During this time his first book was published: Selected stories under the title A un costado de los rieles (On the edge of the tracks). In addition to his professional activities, he made the acquaintance of Ernesto Cardenal , Ezequiel Martínez Estrada , Augusto Monterroso , Juan Rulfo and others. a. After two years, Tizón was recalled and sent to Milan as consul . In 1962 he returned to Argentina and resigned from all political offices.

Tizón returned to Yala and reopened a law firm. When the junta under General Jorge Rafael Videla came to power in 1976, he went into exile in Europe. He spent most of the time in Spain and Italy. When Argentina returned to democracy under President Raúl Alfonsín in 1983 , Tizón also returned to his homeland and settled in his hometown of Yala.
