The mountain bears traces of Celtic fortifications and settlement; there are also finds of iron slag .

The historic Hessenstrasse (old Keltenstrasse) runs over the southeast slope of the Hühnerküppels, which coincides with the Rennstrasse ; the historic Hünerstrasse also runs along the mountain; today they serve as forest and hiking trails.

From the mountain there is a good all-round view of the Taunus: In the eastern Hintertaunus, the view falls on the mountain villages of Rohnstadt and Laubuseschbach. In addition, the view extends over plateaus to the horse's head ( 662.6  m ) in the south-south-east and to the cow bed ( 525.6  m ) in the south-south-west. In the east-southeast to the south, the Taunushauptkamm rises among others with the Steinkopf ( 518  m ), the Großer Feldberg ( 879  m ) and the Kleiner Feldberg ( 825.2  m ).
