The HTC U12 + (also U12 Plus ) is an Android -based smartphone that is produced and sold by the manufacturer HTC as part of its U series. technology

hardware

The HTC U12 + has a glass housing with an aluminum frame that contains pressure-sensitive points with which the Edge Sense functionality is implemented. It is equipped with a 6-inch Quad-HD Super LCD 6 display (2880 × 1440 pixels), which has an aspect ratio of 18: 9 and is HDR-10 certified. The glass on the front is Gorilla Glass 3 .

The dual camera on the back has a 12 megapixel lens with 1.4 μm pixels and a ƒ / 1.75 aperture, as well as a 16 megapixel telephoto lens with an aperture of f / 2.6. It has an optical image stabilization (OIS) and an "UltraSpeed" autofocus. The dual camera enables an optical zoom of 1.85 × to 2 ×. A double LED flash is available, videos can be recorded in 4K with up to 60fps and in Full HD with a maximum of 240fps.

The lenses of the dual camera on the front each have 8 megapixels with an aperture of ƒ / 2.6 and a field of view of 84 °. Video recordings are possible here in a maximum of Full HD.

The BoomSound ™ technology known from its predecessors is used in the device. Audio recordings are supported in stereo and hi-res . The smartphone is rated IP68 , repels dust and splashes and is therefore water-resistant for up to 30 minutes in a maximum of 1 meter of fresh water.

The smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 845 from Qualcomm and is equipped with 6 GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64 GB storage. In Asia the device is sold with a 128 GB internal memory. The existing hybrid slot can be used in the dual SIM model either to use a second SIM card (which also supports LTE 4G) or to use a microSD card with up to 2 TB. In the single SIM variant, there is no possibility of using a second SIM card. This version is sold, for example, by the cellular network provider O 2 .

The power and volume buttons are pressure sensitive buttons based on a technology similar to Edge Sense. The latter allows various actions to be carried out when pressing or tapping the frame.

software

The HTC U12 + ships with Android 9.0 with HTC Sense 10 . Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa are pre-installed.

HTC Exodus 1

On October 23, 2018, HTC presented the Exodus 1 , the first blockchain smartphone. The device is technically an HTC U12 + with a transparent back and special crypto elements. Furthermore, there is only one version with 128 GB UFS storage. The smartphone focuses on security and cryptocurrencies. It should be possible via interfaces to use the hardware of the device to protect keys and to sign transactions.

The device can only be purchased with Bitcoins or Ethereums .
