Haide Klüglein (born February 9, 1939 in Magdeburg ; † July 28, 2020 in Flensburg ) was a German swimmer who started for the Flensburg swimming club . As the club's first female swimmer, Klüglein, the “ grande dame of the FSK”, took part in a 1998 world championship together with her husband Hans “Ecki” (Eckhart) Klüglein.
The multiple Schleswig-Holstein state record holder (status 2014), German champion (2011 and 2013 over 2.5 km open water swimming) and German runner-up (2005 over 400 and 800 m freestyle) as well as eight-time World Cup participant (status 2014) achieved her greatest successes Long distances in open water swimming for the Masters , which Klüglein usually complements with two short distances. Before every competition in the open water, the exceptional athlete has the habit of checking the officially stated water temperature - the German Swimming Association, for example, generally stipulates at least 16 ° C for German championships - with her own thermometer .

Honors
Haide Klüglein has been an honorary member of the association since 2009 because of her “special commitment to the FSK” . The city of Flensburg awarded Klüglein in 2006 with the merit pin in gold, in 2009 with the merit pin in bronze and for her North German championship over 50 m backstroke in 2015 with the merit pin in silver. From sports federation Flensburg she received the 2007 honorary cup of the 1st stage, from Landessportverband Schleswig-Holstein in 2011 the championship plaque and the Schleswig-Holstein Swimming Federation 2004, the badge of honor .
