Halil Rıfat Pasha
Halil Rıfat Pascha (* 1827 in Selânik (Thessalonica), Ottoman Empire , † November 9, 1901 in Istanbul ) was an Ottoman statesman and grand vizier .
biography
Rıfat Pasha was born in the village of Lika des Siroz - Sanjaks . His family was known as Bölükbaşı . After finishing school in Selânik, he worked as a secretary in Vidin and then for the governor of Selânik. He rose to higher offices here and in 1882 received the high rank of Mutasarrıf von Vidin. In 1886 he was appointed governor of the province of Vilâyet Sivas and in 1889 of the province of Vilâyet Aydın and then Vilâyet Manastır . In 1893 he became foreign minister.
He was under Sultan Abdülhamid II between November 7, 1895 and November 9, 1901 Grand Vizier. During his reign, the Turkish-Greek War took place from 1896 to 1897, which ended with a victory for the Ottoman Empire.
