The 2016/17 indoor season began on December 2nd, 2016. The double final for women and men took place on February 4th and 5th, 2017 in Mülheim an der Ruhr .

The champions of the regional leagues north, east, south and west are promoted to the Bundesliga. If this is a second team, the right of promotion goes to the next team.

The climbers for the 2017/18 season were: Klipper THC in the north, the Nuremberg HTC in the south, the Raffelberg club in the west and the Zehlendorfer Wespen in the east .
