Hamilton Parish refers to an administrative area of 5.3 km² in Bermuda with 5584 inhabitants (2016).
The Parish, which is comparable to a district in German-speaking countries, is located in the east of the main Bermudian island of Grand Bermuda and spans almost the entire Harrington Sound . Bermuda's second-easternmost administrative area is bordered to the southeast by Saint George's Parish and to the west by Smith's Parish . The (independent) community of Hamilton , capital of Bermuda, is not here, but about eight kilometers southwest on the Great Sound .
In Hamilton Parish, which occupies the winding eastern part of Grand Bermuda, there are two small lakes near the Atlantic south coast (Mangrove Lake and Trott's Pond), which is rather a rarity in Bermuda. There are also several stalactite caves here . The area also includes a few small islands in Harrington Sound.
The administrative area is named after the Scottish aristocrat James Hamilton, 2nd Marquess of Hamilton (1589-1625).
