The 2nd African men's
handball championship was organized in 1976 in the Algerian capital of Algiers by the Confédération Africaine de Handball (CAHB). Six teams were qualified for the finals. Defending champion Tunisia won the tournament ahead of host Algeria and third-placed Cameroon . The team from Togo came fourth, followed by Senegal in fifth and Ivory Coast in sixth.
