The 21st African Women's Handball Championship took place from January 16-25, 2014 in the Algerian capital, Algiers . The host was the Confédération Africaine de Handball (CAHB). Tunisia won its third title.

Attendees

With Angola , Tunisia , DR Congo and Algeria , the four best-placed teams in the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualified. Furthermore, the Republic of the Congo , Ivory Coast , Cameroon and Senegal were included in the field of participants due to their placement in the CAHB ranking for 2013. Ultimately, however, Guinea took over from the Ivory Coast.

Preliminary round

The eight participating national teams were divided into two teams of four. All teams entered the main round automatically, where they crossed over according to their preliminary round placement.
