The 24th African Women's Handball Championship was to take place in December 2020 in Yaoundé , the capital of Cameroon . The organizer is the Confédération Africaine de Handball (CAHB). Cameroon would be the scene of an African Championship in handball for the first time. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the event has been postponed to June 11, 2021.

The defending champion is the Angolan women's national handball team .

The top five teams qualify for the 2021 World Cup in Spain.
