Hannes Finkbeiner

Hannes Finkbeiner (born August 12, 1977 in Freudenstadt ) is a German author , journalist and columnist . He also writes under the  pseudonym Jonas Erzberg.

Career

Finkbeiner grew up in a medium-sized hotel in Baiersbronn in the northern Black Forest , but he has nothing to do with the Finkbeiner family of hoteliers at the Traube Tonbach luxury hotel, which is in the same municipality. After training as a restaurant manager at Hotel Bareiss in Baiersbronn-Mitteltal he studied journalism at the University of Applied Sciences Hanover (2003-2006) with a Bachelor of Arts.

After completing his studies, Hannes Finkbeiner first worked as an event manager for major events at Deutsche Messe AG in Hanover , before setting up as a freelance journalist and author in 2008 . Since 2009 Finkbeiner has published various cookbooks and non-fiction books, novels and stories.

Finkbeiner wrote for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , Stuttgarter Zeitung and Spiegel Online . He has been teaching journalism at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences since 2016 and writes a weekly gastro column / restaurant review for the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung (HAZ) with the title “Finkbeiners Tasting”. Since 2018 he has been working regularly for the editorial network Germany .

He also runs the Cookmunity blog, which mainly publishes recipes.

Publications

In 2009 Finkbeiner's first cookbook, "Kochimpuls - 30 Kochimpuls, 40 Sterne, 150 Rezepte" was published by Matthaes Verlag . In 2010, the non-fiction book "Training and careers in the hotel and catering industry", published by Matthaes, followed. In the following year, 2011, the cookbook "Breakfast & Brunch: Recipes, Tips and Product Knowledge", Matthaes Verlag. Finkbeiner developed the recipes in this book together with star chef Ronny Siewert . The last two books mentioned were each awarded the silver medal of the Gastronomic Academy of Germany (GAD).

His debut novel "Jogginghosen-Henry" was published by Heyne Verlag in Munich in 2016 and was particularly well received by the German heavy metal scene. Stern Online advised Wacken fans to view the book as a "festival tent inventory". The Stuttgarter Zeitung described it as a “modern Bildungsroman in the tradition of American classics such as J. D. Salinger'sThe Catcher in the Rye ”or Harper Lee'sWho Disrupts the Nightingale . ”Finkbeiner's story“ Mr. Devil and the Pocket Heart ”received less attention the same year also published as an e-book by Heyne Verlag Munich .

In order to better separate his fiction from his journalistic work, Finkbeiner published his second novel "Incurably Happy" in 2019 under the open pseudonym Jonas Erzberg. The book was published by Bastei Lübbe , while the audio book was published by Audio Media Verlag. The HAZ described the book as a "well-made entertainment novel", the Schwarzwälder Bote as "a travel story, a story of searching (...) and finding, in which social criticism also resonates."
