Hannes Raffaseder (born January 15, 1970 in Freistadt / Upper Austria) is an Austrian sound designer and composer.

Life

Raffaseder studied communications engineering at the Vienna University of Technology (diploma thesis on the subject of physical modeling as a synthesis process for the electronic generation of sounds ) and computer music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna . He took lessons in composition, improvisation and piano from Christoph Cech, among others .

Since 1999 he has been co-organizer of the Mittersill einklang composers forum . He developed the concept for the concert series grenzenLOS for the Brucknerhaus in Linz in spring 2002.

From 1998 to 2004 he had a teaching position at the University of Applied Sciences for Media Technology and Design in Hagenberg.

From 2000 to 2001 Raffaseder had a teaching position at the University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten in the audio department. Raffaseder has been a lecturer in audio technology and design since 2004, professor and head of the Institute for Media Production since 2007, and head of the master's degree in digital media technologies (formerly telecommunications and media) since 2009. He was Vice Rector from 2010 to 2012 and followed Barbara Schmid as Rector of the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences in 2012; he held this top position until 2014. Since then he has been head of the FH Service for Research and Knowledge Transfer.

His specialist book Audiodesign was published in September 2002 by Carl-Hanser-Verlag's Leipzig specialist book publisher. Raffaseder wrote the chapter on digital audio processing for the paperback of media informatics published in September 2005 . He has had other publications and international lectures in the areas of audio and sound design, sound / music computing, soundtrack possibilities in the media, film and media music, sound and media art.

Raffaseder has been a board member of the International Society for New Music , Austria section since 2008 .
