Hans-Joachim Liesecke

Hans-Joachim Liesecke (born February 23, 1931 in Halberstadt ; † July 31, 2019 ) was a German university professor for green space construction .

Life

After graduating from high school in Bad Schwartau in 1951 , Hans-Joachim Liesecke completed a three-year apprenticeship as a landscape gardener in Allschwil , which he completed in Liestal in 1954 with the assistant test. He then moved in the winter semester of 1954/55 to study land maintenance at the Technical University of Hanover , where he became a member of the Corps Saxonia in 1955 . Upon completion of the degree as Dipl.-Ing. In November 1959 he became a research assistant at the Institute for Green Planning and Garden Architecture at the TH Hannover. As a result, he was until his doctorate to Dr. rer. hoard. 1970 alternately research assistant and research assistant. In addition, from 1960 to 1967 he worked for Werner Lendholt on a work contract with planning and design work. From 1960 to 1961 he held a part-time teaching position at the teaching and research institute for horticulture in Ahlem in the subjects of garden design, landscaping and cemetery gardening, field fairs and plan drawing. From 1970 to 1980 he was senior assistant at the Institute for Green Planning and Garden Architecture at the Technical University of Hanover with the assignment to independently hold courses in the field of green space construction , and from February to October 1973 he headed the Land Care Department at the Technical University of Hanover.

At the beginning of 1981 Liesecke became professor and head of the Institute for Landscaping at the Geisenheim Research Station . At the beginning of 1983 he was appointed as a university professor for the newly created teaching and research area of technical-constructive principles of open space planning (green space construction) in the department of landscape architecture and environmental development at the University of Hanover, where he continued his position in Geisenheim for another year. In 1993 he retired in Hanover. He ended his research and consulting work at the end of 2011.

From 1969 to 1974 Liesecke belonged to the FN Construction Working Committee for Sports Fields , Subcommittee for Lawns DIN 18 035, Part 4, and from April 1970 to November 1973 to the FN Construction Working Committee for Landscaping , DIN 18 915 to DIN 18 920. From 1975 to 1980 he was a member of the Research Council within the Research Society for Landscape Development Landscaping, from 1977 to 1989 head of the vegetation technology seminar group for green spaces in residential areas , from 1980 to 1983 member of the executive committee, from 1978 to 1996 head of the working group guidelines for green roofs and from 1984 to 1984 1996 Head of the working group root protection for green roofs . From 1981 to 1983 he was a member of the quality committee of the Bark Quality Association for Crop Production in Lauterbach (Hesse) . From 1971 to 2001 he was the editor of the specialist journal Das Gartenamt , which was renamed Stadt + Grün in 1994 , together with Dieter Hennebo until 1992 . With W. Skirde he published the magazine for vegetation technology in landscaping and sports facility construction from 1978 to 1990 .

In his research and teaching, Liesecke concentrated on the subject areas of substrates, water balance, street trees and green roofs. He was internationally recognized as a trailblazer for green roofs.
