Hans Achatz (born December 19, 1943 in Haag ; † April 9, 2017 in Eferding ) was an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and judge . Achatz was a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament from 1985 to 1991 and a regional councilor in the Upper Austrian state government from 1991 to 2003 .

education and profession

After graduating from high school, Achatz studied law at the University of Vienna . During his studies, he became a member of the Libertas academic fraternity in Vienna in 1962 . After completing his studies, he trained as a judge in Vienna , Enns , Steyr and Linz . After being appointed judge in 1973, he was appointed to the Ried im Innkreis district court in 1976 , and in 1977 he took over the chairmanship of a jury and jury senate.

Politics and functions

Achatz joined the FPÖ in 1962 and was involved as a student representative at the University of Vienna during his studies. From 1972 to 1975 he was an active member of the committee against the planned Stein / St. Pantaleon in Enns and from 1980 worked in the FPÖ district organization Ried im Innkreis. He was sworn in on October 4, 1984 as a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag, to which he was a member until October 29, 1991. In addition, from 1 July 1989 he was club chairman of the FPÖ state parliament club and previously from 1985 club chairman deputy. In addition, he worked from 1985 as a councilor and chairman of the environmental committee. After the FPÖ's electoral success in the 1991 state elections , Achatz was the first FPÖ politician to take over the office of a regional councilor in the Upper Austrian provincial government, where he was responsible for water law, hydraulic engineering and veterinary affairs until October 31, 1997 and the departments from October 31, 1997 Water law, hydraulic engineering, veterinary services, savings banks and avalanche control were subject. Achatz resigned as a result of the "Knittelfelder Putsch" in September 2002 from his role as FPÖ state party leader, where he was considered one of the masterminds of the internal FPÖ putsch. Hans Achatz's political priorities included the fight against the Temelin nuclear power plant and the resistance to the construction of the new Linz music theater (“Theater im Schlossberg”).

Private

Achatz was married to Anna Elisabeth Achatz in September 2000 . He is the father of three sons (from his first marriage).
