Hans Bibelriether

Hans Bibelriether (born March 17, 1933 in Ezelheim , Middle Franconia ) is a German forester and conservationist .

Life

Hans Bibelriether studied geography and biology at the University of Würzburg and forest science at the University of Munich and then completed his legal clerkship at the Bavarian State Forestry Administration from 1957 to 1960 . In 1960 he passed the Great State Forest Examination . 1960 doctorate Bibelriether with Professor Josef Nikolaus Köstler with a thesis on the larch in Spessart .

He then worked scientifically at the Forest Research and Experimental Institute at the Institute for Silviculture at the University of Munich. From 1968 to 1969 he was deputy head of the Munich North Forestry Office , from 1969 to 1978 head of the Bavarian Forest National Park Office and from 1978 to 1998 head of the Bavarian Forest National Park Administration. Under his leadership, this first German national park developed into an internationally outstanding and well-known large conservation area.

In addition, Bibelriether was Vice-President and Secretary General of the Federation of Nature and National Parks in Europe from 1984 to 1995 (today: EUROPARC Federation ), from 1986 to 1994 Vice-Chairman for Europe of the IUCN National Park Commission (today: World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) ), from 1991 to 1996 President of the Germany Section of the Federation of Nature and National Parks in Europe (today: EUROPARC Germany ) and in 1999 President of the Federation of Nature and National Parks in Europe.
