Hans Doering (born December 28, 1871 in Lingwarowen , Darkehmen district , † May 10, 1946 in Göttingen ) was a German surgeon.

Life

Doering attended the Collegium Fridericianum . After graduating from high school , he enrolled at the Albertus University of Königsberg for medicine . In the summer semester of 1892 he became active in the Corps Masovia , where he proved himself as a senior . In 1899 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD . He habilitated in 1905 at the Georg-August University of Göttingen for surgery and was a lecturer . Titular professor since 1909 , he ran a private clinic in the Neu-Mariahilf hospital in Göttingen. As a medical officer in the X Army Corps , he moved to the Western Front in 1914 . In April 1915 he took part in the meeting of German medical officers in Brussels. Scientifically it brought "nothing new"; but the fact that it took place at all and attracted 1,200 participants from all war fronts made "a powerful impression abroad". In the summer of 1915 Doering was transferred to the Eastern Front near Przemyśl for a few months . He received the Iron Cross 2nd class. He then headed the surgical department of the fortress hospital in Namur . In November 1915 he became chief physician of the War Hospital I in Brussels . At the end of the war he was interned in a Brussels hospital until April 1919 . After returning to Göttingen, he reopened his clinic. The University of Göttingen appointed him adjunct professor in 1921 . In 1939 he gave back the license to teach . In World War II he served as Chief Medical reserve the Reserve Hospital Göttingen. One year after the end of the war, he died at the age of 74.
