Hans Fuchs (born August 11, 1873 in Berlin , † October 28, 1942 in Posen ) was a German gynecologist and obstetrician .

Life

Hans Fuchs was born in Berlin as the son of the music professor Karl Fuchs, who was a friend of Friedrich Nietzsche . He attended the humanistic grammar school in Danzig and studied medicine at the universities of Breslau , Freiburg and Berlin . 1896 Fuchs was doctorate and in 1897 was awarded the license to practice as a doctor in Würzburg . In 1898 he went to the women's clinic at Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel as an assistant doctor and became a student of Richard Werth (1850-1918). After a five-year training Hans Fuchs left the clinic because he is the boss's daughter betrothed had and wanted to avoid any appearance of a patronage position. In 1905 he married and had five children with his wife.

He went to the practice at a small private clinic on the suburban ditch in Danzig. He also continued to work scientifically. During the First World War , Fuchs worked as a doctor on the Eastern Front.

In 1930 he was appointed head of the Gdansk State Women's Clinic, and later the clinic in Poznan. In the same year he became chairman of the Northeast German Society for Gynecology and on June 30, 1933 chaired the conference of this society. In 1936 he became its honorary member. In 1935, Fuchs was co-founder of Heinrich Klose's Medical Academy in Danzig , which appointed him full professor . He received the Danzig Cross for his services .

In 1933 Fuchs was elected to the board of the German Society for Gynecology and in 1937 as the successor to Georg August Wagner as President of the Society. He led it until its congress, which had to be postponed twice due to the war and took place in Vienna in 1941 .

One year later, Fuchs died in Poznan at the age of 68.
