Hans Grimm (director)

Hans Grimm (born January 30, 1905 in Rehau ; † September 12, 1998 with Luino ) was a German sound engineer and film director .

Life

Grimm completed an apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer and electrician. From 1927 he worked as a sound engineer for the sound film pioneer Hans Vogt in Berlin. As chief sound engineer of the Tobis, he worked in numerous German film productions in the 1930s and 1940s.

After 1945 he worked as a dubbing director and assistant director. Apart from the fairy tale film Frau Holle , which was shot in 1944 , Grimm directed several feature films from 1953 onwards, which were mostly characterized by vacation trips, love and a lot of music. At the same time he wrote scripts for films in which his son, the child star Oliver Grimm , was the focus. Most recently Grimm worked again as a dubbing director and author. He was married to UFA actress Hansi Wendler . His younger brother was the photographer Arthur Grimm , his sister Betti († 1989) married to Kurt Hoffmann .
