Hans Leopold Davi
Hans Leopold Davi (born January 10, 1928 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife , Spain ; died August 12, 2016 in Lucerne ) was a Swiss writer and translator.
Life
Hans Leopold Davi was born in Tenerife in 1928 as the son of the Swiss architect Leopold Davi and Pia Hübscher and attended elementary school there. He attended grammar school in St. Gallen and trained as a bookseller in Zurich . Until 1993 he worked as a bookseller in the Stocker bookstore in Lucerne. In 1964 he married Silvia Lüscher.
Davi wrote poems in German and Spanish, which he then translated, as well as satirical stories and aphorisms. He translated from Spanish, including Friedrich Dürrenmatt and Hilde Domin, into Spanish.
Davi called the Franco dictatorship a dictatorship and named the unpunished human rights violations of the Argentine military dictatorship . In 2000 he commented on European refugee policy .
Davi received the recognition award from the city of Lucerne , the work contribution from the city and canton of Lucerne and the award from the Swiss Schiller Foundation for his work .
